    Description

Here is an original letter of description and importance of a Colt 1861 Navy Revolver that was presented to Adjutant Charles Clark of the 6th Maine Infantry Regiment. Besides being an inscribed, engraved, silver plated and carved ivory grip Colt 1861 Navy it is the fact the Adjutant Clark received the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery of leading his regiment down a steep embankment to escape capture or destruction by the Confederates at the Battle of Brooks Ford May 4, 1863. This was one heck of Colt 1861 Navy Revolver! Well if you perhaps own this revolver you will enjoy this original letter that is from the 1980s or late 1970s. This revolver was so important to Larry Wilson he was considering including it in his next book on Colt Engraving that he was preparing at the time. Of course this offering actually gets better! There is also a letter from John Gangel - aka Little John Auction about this revolver being in one of his sales in the 1980s. There was originally actually a Pair of Colt 1861 Navies presented to Adjutant Clark and they were reunited! The pair was sold at James Julia auction in the early 2000s. Again if you own this pair of deluxe Colt 1861 Navy Revolvers this is an unbelievable addition to have with them now considering Larry Wilson passed away recently.
