Description
Plymouth , North Carolina is a Civil War Heritage site, scene of the historic Siege & Battle and sinking of the ironclad CSS Albemarle in 1864. An original Civil War letter by a Union seaman at Plymouth, NC March 7, 1863 to his parents in Kennebunk, Maine, of family news, expects to be in Baltimore soon for we need repairs, has written often with money for home, fears letters are robbed, hopes the box they sent will arrive soon, also asks of John Read and cousin Mary English. The letter has a colorful patriotic illustration of Liberty and the US flag. 4pp ink, 8 x 5". Age stains, edge wear, Overall VG.
